RESTORE FUNCTION AND BEAUTY
Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are a versatile treatment that can be used to repair damaged teeth and also improve the aesthetics of a patient’s smile. If a tooth has been weakened by decay, chipped or cracked in an accident, or otherwise damaged, a crown will cover it and help support its structure. Crowns are custom-made and give patients the ability to improve the shape and color of their teeth.
The Placement Process
In cases of severe damage and decay, Dr. Milner will remove any infected tooth material and fill the empty space with an inert substance before placing your crown. Whether you are receiving treatment for restorative or cosmetic purposes, your natural tooth will be modified to create a platform for the crown to rest on. Impressions and images will be taken of your tooth, which Dr. Milner will use to create a crown that fits exactly. Then, the crown will be definitively attached to your tooth using dental cement, and you’ll leave our office with a strong, beautiful restoration.
Restorative Benefits
Crowns are made from durable ceramic material and they are designed to protect teeth from further damage. They are made to fit perfectly over your existing tooth and act as a cover or “cap”. This ensures that your natural tooth remains intact and that cracks, chips, or other issues do not become worse over time.
Cosmetic Benefits
Even if your tooth is not damaged, crowns can be used to improve their appearance. If a tooth is severely discolored, chipped, or misshapen, a dental crown is a good way to cover up imperfections and enhance your smile. The process is quick and minimally-invasive, so you won’t have to deal with surgery or extended time in the dentist’s chair.
